Fight Nights; Bare Knuckles Women’s Boxing

Dead End is no stranger to pent up aggression.  The anger and frustration has always hung in the air, ready to explode or come crashing down like the Hindenburg only now, with the economic plunge into the icy depths that reside off our backed up docks, that aggression may have already reached it’s zenith.  We’ve seen an increase in violence on the streets already and now, bare knuckle boxing.  That’s right, the DE Daily obtained some exclusive information regarding the very hush hush affair of unbridled fisticuffs.

Truth and rumor can be mixed separately but more often than not, they are mixed together, blended into a sweet concoction of truthiness.  This is especially true of underground events designed to keep far out of the limelight and reside safely in the corner with the shadows and whispers.  A few of those whispers were loud enough for us to hear and spark a bit of research into just what took place.  What we know is that there were two fights in total, all involving women and at least one fight carried a good bit of bad blood between the women who squared off.  What we don’t know is who these women were or even who sponsored the event.  The word on the street is that the fights took place in the basement of the Jade Dragon but that has yet to be confirmed. Other little birdies told of a crowd of onlookers laying bets on the boxing ladies and rooting for the pair of fists that would help them pay the rent for the next few months.

“Well I cant tell ya who all was there, but there were a few people some throwing some good cash around, nice crowd for a small space really. There are rumors of more coming up. You know how it goes, start something good and pretty soon its an entire movement.” Participant who wished to remain anonymous.

The fights themselves were said to be a brutal no holds barred competition that went on until the loser submitted to defeat.  There were broken noses, a compound fracture,  at least one concussion and likely a fair bit of blood for some unfortunate and highly underpaid soul to mop up later.  Were these fights merely a one time thing?  Just a chance for the citizens to let off some steam and settle some old disputes or is this the start of something regular as the anonymous participant suggested?  We might have to start looking in the shadows and listening closer to the whispers to find out.
