Another day in Dead End.  Another apparently mindless attack.  Or perhaps not so mindless.  An Emergency call was received at 1116 on Saturday, reporting an attack at the Pizza Slut.  An assailant dressed as a monk had used a knife to make his attack on a man before becoming wounded himself.  The ‘monk’ was trying to make his escape as he collapsed and lost consciousness on the other side of the street only yards away from the Slut.  Paramedics were quickly on-scene to both stop the bleeding from the victim’s wounds and tend to the monk.

This Reporter arrived just in time to observe the monk regain consciousness and call out “SINNERS!!! ALL OF YOU!!!” as he rose to his feet and attempted to make his escape.   He headed for the sewers while clutching his head and stumbling, clearly suffering from some sort of head injury and snarled “JUDGEMENT IS COMING” as he staggered and fell along the street.  Two DEPD Officers gave chase and, while their first tazer shot resulted in a most unusual near miss, a more direct physical impact resulted in them apprehending the monk whose final scream of “They must be JUDGED” escaped just as he was falling to the ground once more.

Although the DEPD officer on scene made no formal statement, it was inferred that the Monk would be delivered to the Asylum for treatment.  The behaviour of the victim, however, was intriguing.  The assailant may have been deranged, but the victim’s female companion mentioned the monk’s use of the word ‘sin’ in connection with the victim in such a way as to suggest that there may be some fire causing the smoke of his words. Even more curiously, the victim was most insistent that he did not visit hospital, his companion adopting a particularly short tone with the on-site medics who were keen to do their best for the patient.  One can only assume that the victim was keen to avoid any discussion with hospital staff and / or the DEPD.
