Commedia Dell’Arte Delivers “Gift” To The City
When “Uncle” Bob died, the fate of the gang he ran, Circus Maximus, was in question. Would they simply die off, sprout a new head and soldier on or splinter off into smaller factions? The recent attack taking place at the new Do or Dye Salon by known CM members suggested a splinter faction had indeed risen. During the late late hours of October 11, I received a series of texts from Song, manager at the Pizza Slut and also known CM member. She made references to a “gift for the city” and suggested I come see. Through the back and forth and trying to figure out just what she meant, I finally got this:
“We are Commedia Dell’Arte, and we have a new mission: to beautify this place one little bit at a time.”
While that statement is open to interpretation as to just what that means she eventually made it clear the gift was in fact a person. Unable to get over there myself, I contacted Daily staff photographer Nyxi Spiritweaver to take some pictures. As shown above, a young female was left tied to a fence while four people dressed as carnival clowns paraded around her. At the front, as photographed, was Song, clearly taking the lead of this new gang. Based on the event at the salon, it’s safe to assume the other three members are Mollie Dollson, Maynard Selby and Shye lala Hooterstweaken. Unfortunately, information as to the condition of the currently unnamed victim is limited as police were tight lipped about that and their investigation into this upstart gang. However, if this recent display is any indication, their belief into what will help beautify DE and ours seem to vary considerably.
