For any resident of Dead End from Dead Fall to Dead Drop, when you mention the name Dick’s people instantly think of the Red Light District… and, naturally they would mean the ever popular motel down the end of Crimson Avenue.

Of course unknown to many this popular destination for weary travellers and stag parties wanting to make the most of their night out (or simply in no fit condition to remember where exactly they live), sleazy politicians, corrupt cops, criminals and perverts has recently undergone a change of management, local businesswoman and Dead End resident Thera Williams who has taken over from Deus as the Motel’s owner and Manager.  We had chance to talk to her about her plans for the future of Dick’s going into 2015, and naturally had to ask about the reputation this Crimson Avenue institution had for being a key focal point in some of the darker activities that people participate in, sometimes unwillingly.

I suppose one of the main selling points of spending a night in Dicks is the convenience of it’s location.  As my cab pulled up outside the club at the end of the road and I walked down the road towards Dicks it I noticed how, even considering how out of the way it may look on the city map, you are struck by how convenient Dicks was to get to with Dead End Harbor a few minutes down the road and serviced by the local circular bus allowing you access to the other major parts of the city as well as having two bridges allowing access to both ends of the city, making it easy to understand why touring bands are often seen coming in and out in the small hours of the morning.

After speaking to Thera it is easy to see how enthusiastic she is about Dick’s Halfway Inn, her determination to make the place work along with the new security measures with door locks and security cameras giving any residents staying whether short term or long term a chance to sleep more easily in their beds at night.

So what will Sicks be offering? Well the room prices are apparently being frozen despite the upgrade in security and Miss Williams did mention stag and hen parties always being welcome which would prove an ideal location especially as there are so many interesting places for them to visit locally it makes it understandable why Dick’s would be ideally located for their stay.

Dick’s is open for business now, you can pop in to the office any time and speak to Thera Williams to rent a room or to advance book parties, Security has been checked by DEPD and is up to the hotelier industry standards.  And in Mid January look out for the official re-opening of Dicks in the form of a BBQ and Pajama Party to celebrate both the new year and the new management.
