The New Sword and Shield of Justice
Long have the enemies of all that is true and right in the world plagued our city. Like the Vikings of old, the brigands of the back alleys have descended upon our streets, raiding, pillaging, raping, and burning all that the good people of this city have struggled to build. Our beleaguered police have been fighting a brutal war since this city was incorporated, one they have fought valiantly, even if the odds were ever stacked against them. However, all that has changed, and a new chapter in the story of good versus evil has began.
Two new Champions of Justice have emerged, ready to shoulder the burdens of the ongoing struggle more than any other. Newly appointed Captains Tarra Thorton and Martina Kells have taken up the torch of all that is good in this city, and behind them, the sword and shield of the police department, we shall usher in a new era of peace and prosperity for our people.I recently had the privilege to sit down and interview these two new Captains at the Red Herring the other night, and from what I hear, I have nothing but confidence in what they have to offer.
Captain Martina Kells
Captain Kells is a woman of few words, but great meaning behind them. A woman of action who does what needs to be done, regardless of the cost. An experienced officer, she worked her way up from the ground in the police department, mastering every level, from recruit, to beat cop, to high ranking officer. She has a canny mind, knowing that spilling too many secrets of how the police plans to deal with the criminal elements in the city, least they spoil the plans, but she did say that improved movement of information between the legal department and the police force was a large part of it. And speaking of working together, Captain Kells and Thorton already have quite the effective team, as Captain Kells trained up now Captain Thorton, ensuring the two know exactly how to work together, and Captain Kells even went so far as to say she would happily serve beneath Captain Thorton if she herself had not been appointed as well.
Captain Tarra Thorton
Where Captain Kells is quiet and thoughtful, Captain Thorton is the passionate, outspoken branch of the police department, its spearhead, if you will. She seems to show little regard for her own personal safety, clearly putting the needs of the city above her own. By her own volition, she’s learned to deal with the vast and diverse population that makes up our city, whether they be a productive business owner or a junky hood rat, she knows how to deal with everyone at both their best and worst. Captain Thorton brings a tenacity to the police that will bring the criminal element in the seedy underside of our city to heel, intent on seeing every investigation to the end, with the intent to drop the hammer of indiscriminate justice upon all those who would violate the prosperity of our city with the filth of their crimes.
As Captain Thorton put it so succinctly, “There’s a new sheriff in town,” and indeed, there is. Their names are Captain Martina Kells and Captain Tarra Thorton, and before them, the criminals of this city will scatter like rats before the flame.
