Crime Wave Sweeps City

Fresh on the heels of one of the largest terrorist attacks on the city in recent years, it appears the criminal element of this city has taken advantage of the resulting chaos to further their aim of corrupting what good is left in this city. Watch dog groups have reported a dramatic increase in cocaine sales, and required public postings of police department assets has shed let on a disconcertingly high rate of vehicle theft against squad cars the past week. Capping this spike in crime was the kidnapping of one of the police department’s champions, Captain Thornton.  Though she managed to escape without serious harm, police are undoubtedly beginning an aggressive investigation into such a bold and provocative move on the part of organized crime in this city.

Given the sensitive nature of the request, as well as still recovering from personal injuries sustained during the biological attack, the police declined an interview about the ongoing investigations into these crimes.  However, an anonymous private investigator hired by the DE Daily did an analysis of recent events, suggesting that the dubious business establishment of the Dark Room was responsible for the uptick in cocaine sales, while the Cult of Belial were the most likely instigators of the squad car thefts.  While they would not release the exact data that lead to these conclusions, citing industrial and trade secrets, they did reference the Pawns as the source of their data, should any follow up confirmatory investigation be required. This conclusion was ironic, given that they admitted to uncovering some evidence suggesting the Pawns were the ones conducting Captain Thorton’s kidnapping. No comment was made as to whether or not they would share this information with police.
