Dion Lambert’s Election Interview

Dion Lambert.
At the Dead End Daily we have been committed to bringing you all the news concerning the up and coming election for Dead End City Council after the suspension of members of the previous council due to gross mismanagement of city funds. There are many candidates and today we bring you an interview with arguably one of the most controversial standing candidates, Dion Lambert.
I wondering if you could tell us why you would like to run for city council?
I have lived here for seven years and most of the time I have been a business owner here in Dead End. I’ve been here less then a decade and I was not born here, but in my time here I have watched this city decay. It has never been the Hamptons but there was a time when we could look at Detroit and at least feel good about ourselves and now Detroit looks at us like that. The decay has accelerated. There is a lack of funds for the city. I’m surprised the bridges haven’t collapsed. We know why though now. I love this town, its my home. My family is here. I want to make it better. I want to pull it out of the pit it is falling into. I want to be in a position where I have a chance of saving it.
I noticed that you said that you wanted to legalize drugs, prostitution and gambling . That is very controversial to say the least. People will be wondering how if at all you intend to protect those who’s lives could be damaged by such changes in law?
I have every intention of pushing for all of those and more. Much of that may be outside the power of city council, and if so I’m ready to lobby to the county or the state to let us set those laws for ourselves. I don’t intend to just legalize it and walk away from it. We would need to regulate such things. We already have limited legal gambling with the Hedonist, I would like to expand that. I would like to allow more places to hold gambling licences. As for prostitution and drugs let us not forget eliminated and antiquated blue laws hat have been brought back. The latter being the most simple to deal with. The prior two, we’ll look into a model like has been enacted elsewhere in this country, or maybe even the controls the other countries, like Portugal and the famous Amsterdam. My stance on drugs and prostitution are not unique in this election, several other candidates have expressed there desire to do the same. Though I believe I was the first to go on the record to say so. We must face reality, the city is nearly if not entirely out of money and unless we are ready to go the way of Flint and take on an emergency manager, we need to raise revenue and I’m sure you and all your readers and even everyone in DE will admit that the property taxes are not going to work. Yes it could get the city the money, but only by driving an already poor city further into poverty. The point is by legalizing drugs, gambling and prostitution that we can tax those things and lower city taxes overall. I don’t believe laws should exist that limit or liberties. Time and again we have seen around the country and the world, when drugs, prostitution and gambling are legal. It is safer for everyone involved.
As you know, you are widely criticized locally for your leadership of the adherents of Belial. I have to say that people are wondering if you intend be secular in your city council dealings?
The Adherents is a name has been associated with a criminal element over the years. The House of the Eternal Flame is a legally recognised church and charity organization is that what I lead.I am an ordained minister. I just did a wedding a few days ago actually. I fully intend to separate my religious practices from my duties on the council.I will not be asking for prayer during meetings or wanting any of my religious icons mounted in the public spaces of city hall. I firmly believe in the separation of church in state. Yes my ethics derive from my beliefs, but I do not have any desire to bring it into the halls of the law. As a matter of fact I will likely mention my religion must less often the my opponents mention theirs or mine, unless of course I am defending my self from such unwarranted and irrelevant attacks I have no intention of speaking of it.
What are your thoughts about the other candidates that have currently decided to stand for the election?
“Well I have know most of them for many years now, some better and closer then others. For the most part they are good at the jobs they hold now. I believe that the city would be blessed to have many of them on the council. Unless the rumors about some of them are true, but I fight against hearsay and slander regularly and despite one of my opponents bringing up such things. I have no desire to bring such things into the race.
What sort of things are your opponents bringing up and how would you defend them?
Shade Manx has be dragging out old articles about me. There have been several Police captains that seemed to think taking me down was some sort of crusade. I have even had some threaten to blackmail the people close to me if they didn’t provide them with evidence or testimony to put me away. I feel as if I am and have been persecuted. Yes I have been arrested and I have pleaded out to prevent myself from serving real time.I have never been to prison I am not a felon, but I’m sure you understand that no matter how good of a lawyer you have sometimes false testimony and falsely gathered evidence can not be thrown out, and you have to bite the bullet. The legal system is broken, we all know that. The law is as corrupt and crooked as the drug dealers riding around our town, if not more crooked.
